SEEK THE TRUE TREASURE

Life is fast and overwhelming. So many things try to capture our attention and distract us from what truly matters. Times like these remind me of the importance of pausing and making time for Jesus.
Jesus invites us to come to Him and experience rest.
I love the story of Mary of Bethany in Luke 10. Despite many pressing tasks, Mary chooses to sit at Jesus’s feet and listen to His words. As Jesus corrects her sister, Martha, for her fretting, He says, “One thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her” (Luke 10:42). Mary did not neglect her work or disobey. Instead, she chose to prioritize what is eternal above the present demands. Only one thing is necessary, and that is knowing Christ.

My dear sister, Jesus is the true treasure your heart desires. He is the rest you seek. Jesus invites us, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). He welcomes us to lay our burdens at the foot of the cross and drink deeply from the well of His grace.
Jesus is the only one who can satisfy our restless hearts. We will never regret time spent in communion with Christ. Psalm 84:10 says, “Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere.” Seek the true treasure. Let Jesus be your portion and life.
Our hearts ache and long for something this world cannot fill. I know from experience that trying to find satisfaction in this world only leaves me empty and depressed. One of my favorite authors, C.S. Lewis, puts it this way: “If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.” God created us to be filled in Him. He alone is the source of lasting joy and hope. I find comfort in the words of 1 Corinthians 2:9, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him.” Let’s turn our eyes away from what is temporary to focus on our eternal King.
God has placed us on this earth for a little while to know and glorify Him. R.C. Sproul notes, “Right now counts forever.” Life is precious because what we do now impacts our eternal state. C.T. Studd beautifully captures this truth: “Only one life, twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last.”

The way we live now matters for eternity. Paul reminds believers in 1 Corinthians 10:31, “Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” A well-lived life is one lived for the glory of God. Psalm 115:1 proclaims, “Not to us, Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.”
Join me in praying that we will live to know Christ and glorify God in every moment. May our aching hearts find rest in Jesus, the true treasure, and may we truly taste and see that the Lord is good!
Friend, thank you for allowing me to share this with you. I pray that you are encouraged and inspired to seek Christ. As C.S. Lewis writes in The Chronicles of Narnia, “Onward and Upward!”
Keep your eyes on Christ, the true treasure, and gaze upward to your eternal hope in heaven.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.
-Be Thou My Vision
