FAREWELL 2021

Updated: Mar 9, 2022

And just like that, 2021 comes to a close. I am so thankful for all the blessings God has given me. My cup overflows with God's goodness! Praise be to the Lord.

While reflecting on this past year, I am reminded of God's faithfulness. His constant love has held me fast. 2021 taught me to depend on God for everything and drove me to His word for comfort. There is nothing sweeter than to come to the Lord with a heavy heart and find rest in His arms (Matt 11:28-30). I found hope as I turned to the Lord in prayer and poured out my heart before Him. I learned to surrender my desires to God and trust His sovereign plan, even when I didn't understand. God's grace is sufficient for me (2 Cor 12:9). I can confidently proclaim that Jesus is all I need, and He is enough to satisfy me. I have tasted and seen that the Lord is good (Ps 34:8).

I found comfort in Scripture and the truth that, even when I can't see it, God is working all things together for my good to conform me to the image of Christ (Rom 8:28). God removed the idols in my heart to help me focus on what truly matters. During trials, I found comfort as I clung to God's promises. He will always be with me (Isaiah 43:2), and nothing will separate me from His love (Rom 8:38-39). Because Christ lives, I can face tomorrow.

My favorite hymns this past year were "Rock of Ages" and "It Is Well with My Soul." Charles Spurgeon once said, "I have learned to kiss the wave that throws me against the Rock of Ages." It's in the storms of life that we experience the sweetest communion with Christ. When we cannot trace God's hand, we must trust His heart. Yes, 2022 will have its share in struggles, but I have nothing to fear because I know who holds my life in His hands. God is faithful.

I'll close with some lyrics from a hymn that I have been meditating on recently. I hope you will find encouragement and cling to the One who holds you fast.

My hymn of praise shall be forever Jesus

My firm foundation in shifting sands

My strength and hope through many fears and failures

The disappointments of the past

His constant love has held me fast

So for all my days, I will sing my praise to the King forever Jesus

Though the storms will rage

He is strong to save

He's the King forever Jesus
